Passing the Flag Ceremony - Peace and Sport International Forum 2011
The 6th edition of the Peace and Sport International Forum will take place in the city of Sochi, Russian Federation, from 31 October to 2 November 2012, under the presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
In a politically neutral environment, the 6th Peace and Sport International Forum in Sochi will bring together more than 700 influential decision-makers and high-profile opinion-leaders from world sport governance, politics, International Organizations, NGOs and the private sector, plus academics and top-level athletes from over 100 countries. For three days, these world-leading figures will share ideas on how sport can bring a tangible contribution to peace processes and peace-building projects around the globe. As in previous editions, our objective will be to forge partnerships and create synergies, resulting in an efficient networking and coordination platform which has already produced numerous positive changes on all 5 continents.
To achieve this objective, the Forum will offer each delegate to participate to the following:
Workshops: Stakeholders in the field can express their specific problems concerning the given themes and will benefit from learning practical methodologies through the intervention of experts.
Plenary sessions: Panelists’ exchange of experiences and possible conflicting points of view with the audience will contribute to identifying modes of cooperation between the institutions represented, in order to optimize the coordination of actions in progress.
Networking: This session gives participants the opportunity to benefit from the diversity of stakeholders present by initiating meetings according to predetermined criteria.
Special events: Opening Ceremony, Welcome Dinner, Peace and Sport Awards, Gala Dinner, Special Session and many more surprises…
The Forum’s mission is to raise awareness about the unparalleled capacity of sport to create a genuine culture of peace, and to foster partnerships.
To achieve this, we, at Peace and Sport, want to go to new places where our voice needs to be heard.
Staging the Forum outside Monaco for the first time in Sochi, Host City of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games and a unique crossroads between Asia, Europe and the Middle-East, will provide rich opportunities to expand the reach of your actions.
