Former record-holding swimming champion for more than a decade, Rania Elwani represented Egypt at three Olympic Games. Furthermore, her desire to represent women in sport and society continued after her sporting career ended. She has been an IOC member in Egypt since 2015, and she is now also an MP in the Egyptian Parliament, where she defends women’s rights and fights prejudice.
