Daba Modibo Keita

As an athlete internationaly renown, have a responsibility towards Malian and African youth. I have to act and do everything I can to have a positive impact.


22/05/2007: During the Taekwondo World Championship, Daba Modibo Keita became the first Sub-Saharan African to win a World Championship.
Born in Abidjan to Malian parents, Daba had to escape from the Ivory Coast at the beginning of the civil war. Following his sporting achievements, he became a national hero and was highly involved in the development of Taekwondo in Mali (15,000 members). Flag-bearer of the Malian delegation during the 2008 Olympics, he became ambassador for Sport and HIV Prevention in Mali.
