A former captain of the Indomitable Lions, winner of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, and a product of AS Monaco’s youth academy, Nicolas Nkoulou officially launched the Nicolas Nkoulou Foundation during two events held in Mfou and Yaoundé on June 24 and 25.
Through this foundation, Nicolas Nkoulou aims to use his career, experience, and public profile to serve Cameroonian youth. Convinced that sports are a powerful tool for education, knowledge transfer, and empowerment, he intends to develop concrete initiatives that promote access to education, the personal development of young people, and civic values.
The launch brought together numerous Cameroonian officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, figures from the sports world, private partners, the media, and civil society actors, demonstrating the interest generated by this new initiative in support of youth. Rigobert Song,
The first day, held in Mfou – Nicolas Nkoulou’s hometown – brought together several hundred young people for sports activities, the distribution of educational supplies, and opportunities to interact with local communities. The second day concluded in Yaoundé with an official launch ceremony attended by the Foundation’s key institutional partners.
For Nicolas Nkoulou, this foundation is, above all, about passing on what he has learned: “
I haven’t forgotten where I come from. I grew up here, on these fields, with the same dreams as many of the young people we’ve met over the past few days. Soccer has allowed me to build a life for myself, but above all, it has taught me values that still guide me today: hard work, respect, discipline, and perseverance. Through my foundation, I hope to pass on these values and help provide more opportunities for younger generations.”
Beyond the official launch, the Nicolas Nkoulou Foundation aims to develop sustainable programs focused on education, social inclusion, personal development, and youth support through sports in Cameroon, and eventually across the African continent.
The ceremony also marked Nicolas Nkoulou’s official induction into Peace and Sport’s Champions of Peace Club, an international network of elite athletes committed to promoting peace, dialogue, and development through sports.
As a strategic partner of the project, Peace and Sport is supporting Nicolas Nkoulou in establishing and developing his foundation. The Monegasque organization was represented at the event by Benjamin Boukpeti, an Olympic medalist and Peace Champion.
“Nicolas perfectly embodies this new generation of athletes who want to use their success to help others. His journey, from Mfou to the biggest international competitions, is a tremendous source of inspiration. His commitment to youth is fully in line with the values championed by the Peace Champions Club,” emphasized Benjamin Boukpeti.
By joining the Club des Champions de la Paix and launching his foundation, Nicolas Nkoulou is opening a new chapter in his career, with the goal of transforming his athletic experience into a lasting legacy that benefits the youth of Cameroon and Africa.
