On the occasion of the Herculis EBS Monaco Meeting—a must-attend event on the global track and field calendar in the Principality—Peace and Sport reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the values of peace through sports by supporting races dedicated to young athletes from track and field schools in the Principality, the region, and Italy.

Through this collaboration, Peace and Sport is strengthening its partnerships with key players in Monegasque sports to promote a vision of sport that goes beyond the mere pursuit of performance, in line with the vision championed at the highest levels.

By joining forces, Peace and Sport and the Herculis EBS Monaco Meeting are helping to transform major international competitions into spaces for raising awareness, fostering values, and inspiring future generations.

This event was marked by the presence of two Champions for Peace and iconic figures in world athletics: Vénuste Niyongabo, Olympic 5,000-meter champion for Burundi, and Paula Radcliffe, former world record holder in the marathon for 16 years representing the United Kingdom. On this occasion, Paula and Vénuste presented awards to the young athletes and shared stories about the highlights of their careers, the challenges they overcame, and the values that guided them throughout their athletic and personal journeys.

These special moments allowed the young people to realize that athletic success is built as much on personal qualities as on the results of consistent hard work, and that every athlete can become a positive role model within their community.

“The Herculis EBS Monaco Meeting is an international event of the highest athletic caliber, but it is also designed to inspire future generations. By bringing young athletes together with exceptional champions who embody the values of respect, solidarity, and pushing one’s limits, we give full meaning to our mission.” Frédéric Choquard, Director of the Herculis EBS Monaco Meeting.

“Major sporting events offer an exceptional platform to remind people that sports are not limited to competition. They help raise awareness among a broad audience of sports’ power to bring people together, educate, and build connections. This visibility is essential to supporting the work carried out year-round by Peace and Sport alongside on-the-ground actors and international institutions.”
