H.S.H. the Prince Albert II visits the Monaco-based organization Peace and Sport

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco visited Peace and Sport, the organization under His High Patronage which promotes peace using the power of sport, on Monday the 1st of July. This was the opportunity to present the Peace and Sport team, the activities conducted this year and the 2020 perspectives.

Mr. Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of the organization, welcomed the Sovereign Prince for an introduction with the team and presented of the ongoing activities. They then joined the Board members Mr. Georges Vanderchmitt, Mr. Henri Fissore and Mr. Frank Morel to discuss about the results of April6 campaign anchored around the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace, the orientations of the organization and to present the Peace and Sport International Forum which will be held from December 11 to 13 in the Principality.

Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, said:

“We are proud to host our Patron today following the successful mobilization for the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6. Thanks to the neutrality of Monaco, the universality of sport and the unfailing support of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, we have been able to mobilize more than 40 Governments, Heads of State, International Organizations, International Federations, National Olympic Committees, Champions for Peace and Olympians worldwide. This edition was marked by outstanding celebrations with a final countdown of 1150 projects in 136 countries and 98 million people reached by the #WhiteCard around the world.”

Peace and Sport enjoys the High Patronage of H.S.H. the Prince since its creation in 2007. As such, the organization was able to count on the contribution of the Sovereign Prince during Peace and Sport International Forums, as well as the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the organization in 2017. In 2018, the Sovereign Prince signed with H.E. Mr Juan Manuel Santos, then President of the Republic of Colombia and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding which designates Peace and Sport as implementation partner of a program of sports activities for social inclusion in Colombia.

In 2019, the 12th Peace and Sport International Forum will be held from 11 to 13 December in the Principality of Monaco. It will be a hub for over 600 key decision-makers including Heads of State, strategical leaders from business and the sports world, Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, representatives from civil society and international organizations, and bright young talents, who will all embark on a journey to explore the theme “Investing in Peace, Acting through Sport”. Delegates and illustrious speakers from more than 90 countries will pinpoint and share solutions to scale-up investment in longer-term efforts to transform societies and leave a sustainable legacy for generations to come. The International Forum will see the launch of the peace-through-sport digital app’ which will provide coaches, teachers and animators around the world with adapted digital solutions spreading peace-through-sport training and knowledge.
