Alpha Diallo: A Champion for Peace dedicated to Guinea’s youth

Jul 15, 2026 | News

Alpha Diallo, a Guinean international, captain of AS Monaco Basket, and winner of the 2026 EuroLeague Best Defender award, officially launched his foundation in Conakry during his first basketball camp in Africa, which brought together nearly 100 young Guineans.

Through this foundation, Alpha Diallo hopes to use his background and international experience to benefit young people. Convinced that sports are a powerful tool for education, inclusion, and empowerment, he aims to develop initiatives that promote access to sports, educational success, and personal development among younger generations.

The launch of the foundation and the organization of this first basketball camp served as an initial unifying effort, bringing together a coalition of public, sports, private, and nonprofit stakeholders around the project.

Over the course of several days, the young participants benefited from personalized guidance from Alpha Diallo and his team, combining training sessions, educational workshops, and direct discussions about his career path and experiences. These discussions helped raise the young people’s awareness of the values of respect, discipline, solidarity, and pushing oneself to new heights—while providing them with a concrete source of inspiration and a role model for success.

For Alpha Diallo, this foundation represents, above all, a commitment to passing on knowledge:

“I was fortunate to grow up between two cultures and build my career through basketball. Today, I want young Guineans to believe in their dreams, develop their potential, and understand that sports can open doors far beyond the court. Through this foundation, I hope to pass on to them the values that have guided me throughout my career: hard work, discipline, respect, solidarity, and perseverance.”

The Alpha Diallo Foundation aims to develop sustainable programs focused on basketball, education, personal development, and social inclusion in order to make sports a true catalyst for change for Guinean youth.

This launch was also marked by the official induction of Alpha Diallo into Peace and Sport’s Champions for Peace Club, an international group of elite athletes committed to promoting peace, dialogue, and development through sports.

As a strategic partner in the project, Peace and Sport will support Alpha Diallo in establishing and developing his foundation to enhance its impact on Guinean youth.

Alpha perfectly embodies this new generation of athletes who want to use their success to benefit younger generations. His journey, from New York to the biggest European competitions, illustrates the richness of the African diaspora and demonstrates that athletic excellence can be a powerful vehicle for inspiring others. His commitment to Guinean youth is fully in line with the values championed by the Peace Champions Club,” emphasized Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport.

By joining the Peace Champions Club and launching his foundation, Alpha Diallo is beginning a new chapter in his career with the goal of transforming his athletic experience into a lasting legacy that benefits Guinean youth and, ultimately, contributes to the development of African youth through sports.
