As a Champion for Peace, I have a transmission and sharing role. Being a Champion for Peace is also an incredible opportunity for me to advocate for more inclusive sport, especially for girls and women. Because sport is a huge vector of social emancipation, everyone should have access to it, everywhere in the world.
Mélissa Plaza is a French international football player. Trained in La Roche-sur-Yon, she climbed her way up to play in the best European clubs in Montpellier and the “Olympique Lyonnais”.
As she pursued her football career, Melissa studied at university and got a doctorate during her last professional season, with a thesis on “Sexual stereotypes in sports“.
From now on, she holds lectures and trainees in different organizations (firms, collectivities, educative and sports institutions) about gender enquity, empowerment, and team managemment.
Mélissa became a Champion for Peace to pursue her involvement in favor of gender equity, pass on the sporting values and prove to young people that they will benefit a lot from their sports, particularly on a social way. Above all, she advocates for freedom because thanks to sport practice, everyone opens up new possibilities!
