Peace and Sport and Monaco United WFC: A Monegasque partnership to promote sport as a driver of inclusion and peace.
The newly founded Monegasque football club Monaco United, created by former international star and Champion for Peace Marco Simone, and the Monaco-based organization Peace and Sport announce the signing of a strategic partnership aimed at promoting football as a tool for social cohesion, equality, and dialogue between communities.
Rooted in the Principality, Monaco United WFC and Peace and Sport share the same values.This partnership reflects the joint commitment of both entities to harness the club’s visibility and the Organization’s voice in support of a universal cause.
Peace and Sport will appear on the sleeve of Monaco United WFC’s official jersey, ensuring constant visibility for this message both on and off the pitch. Every match will serve as a unique opportunity to highlight that sport can be a powerful driver of inclusion, empowerment, and unity.
This project illustrates the ability of athletes to become true role models, beyond the pitch and their sporting achievements. Through this initiative, Champion for Peace Marco Simone highlights the power of sport as a genuine driver of social transformation.
The project also aims to help reduce the persistent gap between girls and boys in sports participation. Today, 85% of girls compared to 78% of boys do not reach the physical activity levels recommended by the WHO (Source: WHO Fact Sheet – Physical activity – June 2024). The presence of female role models competing at the highest level has been identified as a key factor in promoting girls’ and women’s access to sport. In this context, Monaco United WFC and Peace and Sport are committed to providing, through the Club’s players, an essential source of inspiration to encourage young girls to engage in physical activity, build self-confidence, and empower themselves through sport.
Joint communication and awareness-raising initiatives will be rolled out throughout the season, making Monaco United WFC a true ambassador of the values championed by Peace and Sport.
