  • Registration for the 2011 Global Peace Games for Children and Youth are now open

playsoccer

ALL ORGANIZATIONS and COMMUNITIES ARE INVITED TO REGISTER FOR THE 2011 GLOBAL PEACE GAMES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH  THAT WILL TAKE PLACE THIS FALL!  PLEASE JOIN THIS SPORTING EVENT WHEREVER YOU ARE AND WHATEVER YOUR SPORT !

Each fall since 2001, the Global Peace Games for Children and Youth have been organized around the world to build a grassroot involvement and educational initiative dedicated to peace, non-violence and human development.  The Games are locally organized events that globally connect children and youth through their signing of the UNESCO Manifesto for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence, created by Nobel Peace Laureates, and the reading of special messages sent to each site from the UNITED NATIONS, FIFA, PEACE and SPORT.

The Games encourage participants to find peaceful solutions in their daily lives and communities, to share the positive values and skills they learn on the playing field through sport, and to become involved in the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.  By organizing the Games locally and connecting them globally, children and youth expand their vision, build awareness and participation with others outside of their own communities.  The Games aim to celebrate the central role, solidarity and commitment of young people -wherever they are-in the mission of global friendship, peace and development.

Registration and participation in the Games is free.  Participants plan and organize their own low cost, friendly sporting events of any kind -and add educational presentations, music, art, dance or poetry.  The full Invitation and Instruction with the registration form as well as the Report on last year's 2010 Global Peace Games for Children and Youth and the Certificate of Participation are available on PLAY SOCCER Nonprofit International website : www.playsoccer-nonprofit.org

The event should be organized in the fall, any time up to December for local convenience, or if possible, on or around the UN International Day of Peace which is September 21.  All registered participants will have the opportunity to sign the UNESCO Manifesto, and will electronically receive the special messages to read at the event to highlight their participation in this global event.   A Certificate of Participation and the Report on the 2011 Global Peace Games for Children and Youth will be electronically sent to all participants at the end of the year.

PLAY SOCCER Nonprofit International (PSNI) organizes the Games at the international level and is available to answer questions at info@playsoccer-nonprofit.org.

  • IndoPak Express Launches Unique Team Merchandise

Percentage of proceeds in aid of charity

Chennai, January 3rd, 2010: World No.8 and ATP Humanitarians of the Year, Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-haq-Qureshi launched their official 'Stop War Start Tennis' merchandise. The duo, who is seeded second at the Aircel Chennai Open, introduced the brand and a newly designed logo at the SDAT Tennis Stadium today at a pre-tournament press conference.

The 'IndoPak Express', as they are popularly known, bagged headlines across the globe with their strong and unique message at last year's Wimbledon and have since become one of the most talked about pairs in world tennis. "What started out as a simple statement has now become a world-wide campaign. This is a great opportunity for us to connect with our fans and we are thrilled to finally launch the merchandise", said the big serving Rohan, who will be looking to repeat the success of a spectacular 2010 season.

Rohan and Aisam have set up an online selling page through Alma Mater store for their extensive merchandise. "People all over the world have been supporting this cause, and we hope that this venture will give them an opportunity to support and spread the message of peace", says Aisam who is aiming for at least one Grand Slam in the 2011 season. The duo personally autographed t-shirts for a lucky few, and will want to start the New Year with a title in front of the vibrant Chennai crowd.

As part of this novel idea, some of the proceeds will go to Rohan and Aisam's respective charities. Rohan supports GoSports Foundation, a non-profit trust helping athletes across India, while Aisam's family charity - the Haq Foundation, has been doing a lot of relief work for flood victims back in Pakistan, in addition to numerous charitable causes to aid the Pakistani people.
