Dear Friends,
As part of the Peace and Sport Awards, each year, “Peace and Sport, L’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport” rewards "Image of the year", a particularly symbolic image illustrating the power of sport to reconcile and unite over and above differences.
Once again this year, the public is invited to vote for their favourite image, available on our website.
We are glad to reveal the 2012 nominees for this Award:

Sarah Attar: The most important is to participate |
|
The Olympic spirit lies in the saying “it's not the winning, but the taking part that counts”. And that was certainly the case as Sarah Attar, the first female track athlete to compete for Saudi Arabia in the Olympics, was cheered every step of the way in her 800m heat by the fabulous spectators in London. |

Swimming beyond borders |
|
Philippe Croizon is the first quadruple amputee to swim between the five continents. By connecting borders through swimming, Philippe Croizon and Arnaud Chassery (his swimming partner) spread a true message of peace and solidarity: over and above social, cultural, religious and political issues, people who live on this planet are not so far away from each other. |

|
Erick Barrondo: A message of Peace |
|
Erick Barrondo won Guatemala's first-ever Olympic medal with a Silver in the 20 km race walk. His message as an Olympic medalist was one of peace as he pleaded for an end to violence in his country after receiving his medal. |
