As proven so many times on the worldwide stage, table tennis has a unique capacity to encourage dialogue, break down barriers and inspire peace.

To transform this power into reality within countries in need, the Monaco-based international organization Peace and Sport, and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) have been working hand in hand since 2008 to implement joint peace-building and peace-promotion programs across the globe.

In 2012, Peace and Sport and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) are joining forces to develop a program called “Ping-Pong Paix“ (Ping-Pong Peace) to enable 400 vulnerable young boys and girls from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Burundi to experience the pleasure and values of table tennis, with the aim of inspiring them to build a better future.

Swedish table tennis legend and Peace and Sport ‘Champion for Peace’ Peter Karlsson is the patron of this unique program which was officially launched on 20 December, 2011.
