Placed under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, this annual event has become a must for the world’s decision makers in sport and peace. It has undergone a growing success since its inception in 2007: no less than 330 leading personalities took part in debates during the last edition, which often got quite heated.
Following on from this success, Peace and Sport has decided to alter the concept of the Forum so that it is more operational, fostering the sharing of expertise and fortuitous meetings.
“The first two editions of the International Forum were intended to mobilize all actors for sport and peace” explains Joel Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport. "It was a matter of raising awareness and making people understand that cooperation between the two worlds were not only possible, but necessary if we are to act in a coordinated and effective manner to build sustainable peace throughout the world. This objective was achieved above and beyond our expectations. So the 2009 edition will be a natural progression; more pragmatic and more focused on the exchange of experiences.”

Over a three-day period, alternating plenary sessions and workshops dedicated to specific issues will enable a greater number of stakeholders based in the field to share Best Practices, to explain their difficulties and to more easily find potential intermediaries and partners.
More concrete case-studies, more interaction, more collaborative work: this new format will give a voice to all stakeholders for peace and sport in order to develop synergies and ways of cooperation between complementary players. It will also be conducive to develop new tools and identify priority intervention areas where sport can help to bring communities together and promote social integration.
Other new features will also distinguish this edition:
The complete programme for the Forum will be announced in the coming months.
