ADAPTED SPORTS PRACTICES

“Adapting how to play sport to put it at the service of society and help build sustainable peace.” A manual made up of educational information sheets showing how to adapt ‘sport as a tool’ according to targeted factors

WHAT ARE ADAPTED SPORTS?

Based on a changing and transmissible idea, an “adapted sport” is a sporting activity whose practice area, equipment and rules are adapted to promote and strengthen sustainable peace.

WHY USE ADAPTED PRACTICES?

Starting from the conviction that peace can be taught, learned and communicated, Adapted Sport aims to make sport a tool that can be used in the field, available to anyone who wants to make use of its capacity to unite people and uphold the values of citizenship.

ARE ADAPTED SPORTS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL?

The concept of Adapted Sport is designed to be easily understood and implemented by anyone who wants to use sport as a tool for education and social inclusion.

Adapted Sport removes invisible barriers that exist in sports activities by focussing on each person’s ability to adapt all aspects of physical exercise to their local environment. By way of illustration, Adapted Sports use equipment that has been made from local resources, whether natural or recycled.
