Our Champion for Peace

SYLVIA POLL

I believe sport has given me many blessings, it has given me a great number of opportunities and I also believe sport has a great value that we can all share. Sport can be an opportunity to promote social inclusion, peace and values. Through my role as a professional athlete it allows me to share the values of Peace and Sport.

Sylvia Poll won the first Olympic medal for Costa Rica at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 and thus entered into the history of her country. In recent years, she’s been part of the national diplomatic corps as Deputy Ambassador to Costa Rica in Switzerland.

“This type of even that uses sport to help kids, learn the values of discipline and team work is very important. So, I invite all federations from every sport to take actions like this one promoted by the FIVB”.
