Our Champion for Peace

Laure Fournier

Sport has enabled me to build myself, especially in developing my team spirit and my leadership skills. As a Champion for Peace, I hope to help others build themselves through sport.

In 2012, Judo Champion Laure Fournier won her first medal at the Sambo World Championships in Minsk. The first in a long line…
In 2018, she won the title of World Sambo Champion in Bucharest and in 2019 she confirmed her sporting abilities by winning the gold medal at the European Championships in Gijón.
An iconic athlete in her sport, Laure Fournier divides her time between her career as a top-level athlete and her job as a business development engineer.
Able to adapt to different environments, she brings her savoir-faire and her selfless dedication to our Champions for Peace club.

SAMBO IN VENEZUELA

The Maria Guedez Foundation, as part of its development, proposed in the primary school Hugo Chavez a demonstration of Sambo, collaborating with our champion of peace Laure Fournier. The purpose of the day was to raise children’s awareness about sports and to invite them to train within the Foundation. The Foundation offers the children, in addition to training, a daily meal, tutoring and French lessons. The human and sporting values of respect, sharing, politeness, cohesion and self-control were highlighted in the Foundation and by the speakers at the demonstration day at the Hugo Chavez primary school in Carabobo. The day ended with a  #whitecard picture to promote sport as a vector of social ties, particularly between French and Venezuelan children.
