Our Champion for Peace

BALLA DIÈYE

Aware that sport is a tool for dialogue and social cohesion, I wish to contribute to the peace-through-sport movement. Throughout my sporting career, I have learned the sporting values : respect, sharing, discipline and emotional healing. I therefore want to participate in educational projects to convey these values through sport.

Balla Dièye is a Senegalese taekwondo player who won the French-Speakiing Championships, the African Championships and two bronze medals at the World Championships.
Representing his country at the Olympic Games in 2016, he is convinced that the values of sport can contribute to establish peace.
For this reason, he works with the Senegalese NOC and French and African sports governing bodies to develop sport in West Africa.
In 2017, he was key to the success of the first Caravan for Peace, organized by Marlène Harnois in collaboration with other Champions for Peace and Peace and Sport.
He has been a committed Champion for Peace since 2018, and notably spoke in Casamance in Southern Senegal a few days after the terrorist attacks.
In 2019, on the occasion of the Taekwondo Ambassador’s Cup at the Marius Ndiaye stadium in Dakar, he organized a massive #WhiteCard mobilization with more than 3500 people.
