For the 5th edition of the International Forum particularly focused on youth, Peace and Sport hosted an exceptional photo exhibition by young French photographer Maud Bernos, dedicated to children living in areas of conflict or post-conflict and their daily involvement in sport.
The photographs, taken during the summer of 2011 in the Great Lakes region of Africa and in Israel-Palestine, highlight the faces of children who are at the very heart of our action and who are our tireless driving force.
The photographer has successfully captured a child's ability to be enchanted by the darkest everyday reality and to transform no man’s lands into playgrounds. The creativity and determination of young people permeate the photographs in superb natural lights; their amused, wistful and courageous smiles, their resolute glances, their outbursts of laughter and their confident gestures light up the pictures.
With the simplicity of evidence, the exhibition shows better than 1,000 words how sport illuminates the road to peace, whether played alone or jointly.
